20 Minutes

No wind this weekend but managed a quick one on friday at West K on Baby Moo and my 4.7. I forgot my freestyle board but the sun was shinning so i just had to go out!! Still loving the baby moo grips like shit to a blanket!!

Big thanks to jay for the photos!!

Going The Distance

The plan was initially to go to Prestatyn but after discussion with Jay and Laird (I mean Stu), Leasowe was decided on, to get some decent cross-shore jumping, but as morning shifted into gear the wind decided to do its own thing and the call was shifted to West Kirby for some freestyle.

At West Kirby the sun was out, what more can you ask for! Chris and Alex were out who i haven't sailed with in a while as well as the usual weekend warriors going for hell for leather, hope once i qualify i don't have to resort to that sort of behavior (freakin' scary talk!!).

6.7 Miles

As the wind was blowing a SSW Jay and me decided to have a quick trip down to Heswall it's a 6.7 mile return journey,  which was great to have a decent long reach.

This little trip has also got me thinking so I am going to set myself a challenge The West Kirby To Leasowe Down Winder (Although i am going to think of a catchier title) West Kirby to Leasowe is approximately 7 Miles,  and would easily be achievable in a Westerly. um.... something to think about anyway!!!

Dinas, Disaster!!

Decided to make the call with Jay to check out Dinas, it was between Dinas and Rhossy, with a bit of east in the southerly we decided to make the call to head towards Dinas, hoping for better waves than what we would of got at rhossy!!

We decided to start super early hoping to get as much TOW but made the stupid mistake of not checking the tide tides.  We arrived super early and had to wait. So we sat in the car for 2 hours which really sucked, watched some awesome waves some about 1/2 mile long.

Early Start

Watchin' the waves

At 2:30ish we decided to go for it, I took baby moo and my 4.2. The wind was super gusty and the rip super strong which was not helped by the shore dump, but managed a few good turns on some waves, so it was kinda worth it but at the same time utter dog plop!!!

Big thanks to stu for his photography skills although not really the weather for it!!

Slogging it out back

All by Myself

Baby Moo's Christening @ Rhossy
11.01.09

Managed to get out on Saturday at Rhosneigr, made the usual call around to try and get some peeps to come with me but all were busy...So I went by myself! Sailing on my lonesome is completely different, but both as rewarding as each other; whilst your friends will push you, you have to push yourself when your on you're own.

At Rhossy it was 4.2 weather from the SSW so it was only very slightly onshore, the only downside was that the waves were packed fairly close together which caught me out twice - thinking that I got over one bit of white water, to being hit by another 2 seconds later! But the best wipeout of the day was due to a bad timed gybe, which resulted in sitting at the top of the wave as it broke (instead of infront!) went over the falls and went splat!...Was laughing all the way down though! Once back out there it was sweet! - I managed one ride with six turns, down to the conditions but also the board.  Awesome for Rhossy

This was baby moo's first outing and it was amazing! Jon must of made a pact with the devil to shape something this well, rides well, jumps well, turns like a hamster on steroids what more can I say!!!

Jonny and Jay enjoying the lake

Got the news today that the work needed on the lake has been confirmed to start mid February, so hopefully have 2-3 more sessions at this great venue!! Work is expected to take three months but suspect it will probally take much longer, this kinda sucks as it will bite into the summer for all those wanting to learn or not yet confident enough to go on the tide also means I will have to start looking for a new job.

5 Day Weekend!!

Happy New Year! It's been pretty busy but i guess it that time of year. Me and Shelly Welcomed in the new year at my sister's (Corin's) house. Corin and Dave also announced their engagement that night which is pretty awesome!! Dave's a cool bloke who's trying to get into kitesurfing but at the moment is a bit equipment challenged, hopefully this will be resolved soon and i'll have another buddy to hit the water with!!
Corin and Dave,
although what is Dave looking at?

The other big news although minute in comparison I decided to get myself a new camera so hopefully there will be much more quality photography!!! Also I have a plan to get a waterproof housing so with my surf fins and maybe a helmet get some awesome water-shots, .... we'll have to wait and see about that one, though until i save money or get a very generous birthday present.

Turfdogging at Sunrise

Just after the new year had two exams at uni which sucked as I had to revised over the holiday but now there done i'm making the most of my 5 day weekend, i've already managed a turfdog session at sunrise which was pretty nice, and it looks like it going to be windy on sunday!!!!!!

If you got any time check out Moo Custom, the website has been updated and there is some pretty awesome shoots! Team Gywnn have also been pretty busy stu has been surfing pretty hard claiming the this year the year of the wave and lets hope so!!! Mike been riding his bike and Jay's been falling of ladders breaking his front teeth OUCH!!
